This is very similar to a regular chili recipe. I am not sure what made it different, but it was.

I would have to say it was the addition of the tomato soup.

The chili had a strange texture to be honest.

I always thought chili con carne was something different. I guess I never really knew what it was. Or perhaps this is a bad example. . .

I served it over rice. My husband and I ate it fine. My daughter didn’t like it at all.
CHILI CON CARNE
2 Tablespoons Shortening
1/2 Cup Chopped Onion
2 Cloves Garlic, Minced
1 Pound Ground Beef
1 Tablespoon Chili Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1/8 Teaspoon Black Pepper
21 Ounces Condensed Tomato Soup
1 Can Red Kidney Beans
Melt shortening in skillet and add onion, garlic, and beef. Brown slightly. Add seasonings, soup and kidney beans. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Serve hot.
