Thin Spaghetti Sauce

I will start by saying that I doubled the recipe. I have another recipe that calls for meat sauce, and I wanted to have extra without having to make more later.

The blend of hamburger and sausage really amps up the flavor.

For the tomato sauce I used 1 can of actual sauce, but then added diced tomatoes for the other half. I like to have a little texture to my sauce. I enjoy the tomato bites.

The cayenne does add just a touch of spice, but it is not overwhelming. The sauce does not taste spicy at all.

I cooked the sauce for about three hours. I know it only calls for 20 minutes, but I had the time. I feel that spaghetti sauce tastes better the longer you cook it.

The sauce tasted wonderful. It was a little thin though. If I made it again I would add a small can of tomato paste with the other tomato products. I think this would thicken it up just enough.

I served it over thin spaghetti with a little Parmesan cheese.

SPAGHETTI WITH MEAT SAUCE

1/4 Pound Hamburger

1/4 Pound Sausage

1/2 Cup Chopped Onion

1/4 Teaspoon Salt

1 1/2 Cups Tomato Sauce

1/4 Teaspoon Salt

1/8 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper

Fry hamburger, sausage, onion and 1/4 teaspoon salt in skillet until meat is browned. Add tomato sauce, salt, and cayenne and simmer 15 to 20 minutes. Serve over cooked spaghetti.
