Thick Cookie

Have you ever seen those cookie stores in the mall? You know, the ones who sell the pizza size cookies? I have always wondered how they make those.

Whenever I have tried at home the edges get cooked until they are hard and the center is still under done.

This recipe reminds me of the giant cookies.

The brown sugar gives the bars a nice color and a rich flavor.

The cookies were the perfect combination of soft and crisp.

The outer edges were a little crisp, but not too crisp.

The insides were gooey and soft.

The chocolate chips melted in your mouth and were smooth and creamy.

Really a delicious dessert!

CHOCOLATE CHIP BARS

1/3 Cup Shortening

1 1/4 Cups Packed Brown Sugar

2 Eggs

1 1/4 Cups All Purpose Flour

1 1/4 Teaspoons Baking Powder

1/4 Teaspoon Salt

3 Ounces Semi Sweet Chocolate Pieces

1/2 Cup Chopped Nuts

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly. Stir dry ingredients together and blend into shortening mixture. Stir in chocolate pieces and nuts. Spread in a greased 9 inch square pan. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. When almost cool, cut into bars.
