Tart and Sweet

I love lemonade on a nice warm day. It has a perfect blend of tartness and sweetness. And it is very refreshing without being too heavy!

The strawberries add a loveliness to this drink. Crushing the strawberries is a little tough. My strawberries were a little on the harder side. I started with the fork, but ended up using my pastry blender to mash them completely. This was a great method!

I also couldn’t find lemonade concentrate at the store. So I used lemon juice, about 3/4 of a cup and mixed it with 1/4 cup sugar. This in essence made lemonade concentrate - so I think it worked well.

The end result was delicious. I served the lemonade with the Texas Barbecue Chicken. It went so well with the barbecue sauce.

If you want to make this an alcoholic drink, try adding some vodka to replace some of the water. . .

We felt like we were at a barbecue!

STRAWBERRY LEMONADE

1 Cup Strawberries

2 Tablespoons Sugar

Ice

1 Cup Lemonade Concentrate

Ice Water

2 Lemon Slices, Halved

Reserve 4 whole strawberries for a garnish. With fork, crush remaining berries with sugar and let stand for 30 minutes. Place in a pitcher, or divide among glasses. Pour melted lemonade concentrate into pitcher. Add ice water to fill, stir gently. Garnish with whole berries and lemon slices.
