Sweet Wine and Fruit

Writer: Amanda KennedyAmanda Kennedy

I made this to go with my Steaks with Tomato Sauce and Baked Green Rice.

I quite enjoy a sangria. I am one of those who prefers white wine to red, mostly because I like a sweeter wine. Dry red wine gives me a headache and leaves my mouth feeling like I swallowed sand.

The lemon juice adds a touch of tartness to the wine. It helps with the sweetness of the other ingredients.

I allowed my sangria to sit for about two hours before serving. This allowed all the fruits to soak up the wine, brandy and cointreau. So every when eating the fruits you were presented with the sangria flavor.

I added about 1/4 of a cup of sugar. You could add more or less, depending on your tastes.

Served over ice this is the perfect accompaniment to a warm summer day!

SANGRIA

3/4 Cup Brandy

1/2 Cup Cointreau

4 Cups Red Wine

3 Lemons, Juiced

Sugar to Taste

2 Oranges, Thinly Sliced

2 Lemon, Thinly Sliced

3/4 Cup Sweet Cherries

1 Cup Sliced Peaches

Combine all ingredients in a pitcher. Serve over ice.
