Strange Nuts

This recipe starts out like you are making peanut brittle. Boiling the sugars to get the candy.

The you add the marshmallows.

Which turns the liquid into more of a rice crispy treat of sorts.

The marshmallow does eventually harden a bit, but not completely.

I was going to use almond flavoring, but ended up using a little rum flavoring. I thought that might make it interesting.

So for mine - I get a hint of rum, a lot of salt, and a little sweetness.

This is absolutely a strange snack. But, if you enjoy sweet and salty you will more than likely enjoy it!

Flavored Nuts

1 Cup Sugar

1/2 Cup Water

1/4 Cup Karo Syrup

10 Marshmallows

1/8 Teaspoon Flavoring Oil

Food Coloring

3 Cups Pecans or Walnuts

Mix sugar, water, and corn syrup in a 2 quart saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook to 238 degrees. Remove from heat. Stir in marshmallows, flavoring and color until dissolved. Mix in nuts until coated. Turn out onto waxed paper. Separate nuts while warm. Cool completely.
