Every once in a while you have a day where you just need a drink after work. My husband had one of those days - so I was a good traditional housewife, and had a martini waiting for him when he walked in the door.

I know that is an old fashioned concept, but I am kind of an old fashioned girl. It works for us.

A classic martini is one of his go to cocktails. It is no frills, basic, but really packs a punch when you need to unwind.

This is a stirred cocktail. I know there is a famous spy who always orders his martini shaken, not stirred. But honestly - who shakes a martini?

I opted to use the olives. The olive juice makes the cocktail “dirty” so it adds just a touch of the saltiness from the olives.

I have never tried a martini with the lemon, perhaps one day I will try that. Alas I did not have a lemon on hand for this time. . .
This is a very simple cocktail to make, but it sure does pack a punch.
MARTINI
2 Jiggers Dry Vermouth
7 Jiggers Gin
