You could really change the flavor of this salad depending on which apples you use.
I used a combination of honey crisp and granny smith apples. They provided a sweet bite and a tart bite depending on which apple you got.
It really is very simple to put together. Basically cutting up a few ingredients.
The hardest part is the salad dressing, which is cooked, then whipped. I had made the whipped dressing a week or two before for a different dish. So I had the leftovers in the fridge.
I served this with the Southern Fried Catfish.
It was enjoyable!
WALDORF SALAD
6 Tart Red Apples
4 Celery Hearts
2 Ounces Walnuts
Whipped Cream Dressing
Pare apples, cut into long slender strips. Dip into lemon water to prevent browning. Slice celery to match apples. Chop walnuts. Combine apples, celery and walnuts covering with enough dressing to moisten. Serve over lettuce if desired.
