Simple Chili

I don’t think there is much my daughter likes more than chili. Maybe sushi, but it’s a close call for sure. I always enjoy trying out new chili recipes for her.



This one was interesting with the addition of the chocolate. The bitter flavor of the chocolate blends very nicely with the chili seasonings.



Using tomato juice was a bit different as well. I have always used diced tomatoes, maybe some tomato paste before. So the juice was interesting. You get the tomato flavor of a typical chili, but no bits of tomato.




Honestly this reminds me a bit of Cincinnati chili that is served over noodles or rice.



It was a good chili, with just enough differences to set it apart.



SIMPLE CHILI AND BEANS

1 1/2 Pounds Hamburger

1/2 Cup Chopped Onions

1 Teaspoon Salt

16 Ounces Kidney Beans

1 1/2 Quarts Tomato Juice

1 Tablespoon Beef Extract

1 Tablespoon Chili Powder

1/4 Teaspoon Pepper

1/2 Ounce Baking Chocolate


Sauté hamburger, onions and salt until browned. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Stir occasionally.
