It is so easy to over cook pork chops. When overcooked, they become dry and tasteless.
Thankfully, these were not dry! Despite the cooking time!
You absolutely need thick cut chops! I think they would easily overcook if they were too thin.
Unfortunately, it is becoming harder and harder to find thick cut chops.
The onion soup mix was a nice touch for the dish.
Mixing it with the water and sour cream provides the chops with a lovely and flavorful sauce to cook in.
Cooking the chops in sauce also helps them retain their moisture.
Sprinkling the chops with parsley gives them a nice bit of color.
I served the chops with the broccoli au gratin.
BAKED PORK CHOPS
6 Rib or Loin Pork Chops
1 Tablespoon Flour
1 Package Dehydrated Onion Soup Mix
2 1/2 Cups Boiling Water
1 Cup Sour Cream
Parsley
Brown chops lightly in hot skillet. Remove. Pour fat from skillet leaving 1 tablespoon in pan. Add flour and onion soup mix. Blend in water. Pour over chops. Cover with foil. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 30 minutes longer. Garnish with parsley.
