Pourable Caramel

Caramel is another of those favorite ice cream toppings that is really a must for an ice cream social. I made three sauces total for the event. This was by far the most popular, there was hardly any left at all!

The sauce is super creamy, and pours beautifully when hot or cooled.

I served the sauce in a warming pan, so it was warm, but not too hot.

The sauce has a lovely color, and an amazing taste.

I stored the sauce in a Ball canning jar. This ensured that the leftovers would keep in the refrigerator. You could also make the sauce and seal the jar to keep it on the shelf until you needed it.

As I said, this was the most popular sauce at our ice cream social. There was very little left, everyone commented on how much they enjoyed it!

CARAMEL SAUCE

1 Cup Sugar

1 Tablespoon Cold Water

1 1/3 Cups Hot Water

1 Tablespoon Corn Starch

1 Tablespoon Butter

1 Teaspoon Vanilla

Place the sugar and cold water in a pan and stir until the resulting sirup is a clear brown, but no so dark as caramel. Add the hot water and stir until the whole is well blended. Add the corn starch mixed with a little cold water and boil for five minutes. Continue cooking over hot water for 15 minutes, stirring all the time. Beat in the butter and vanilla.
