Old Fashioned Tuna Melt

So this is basically a tuna melt, sort of.

The recipe has all the main components of a tuna melt, but there are some additions that make it unique.

The olives provide some very interesting flavor. They add a bit of saltiness, and a little bit of texture.

The bell peppers give the needed crunch. Usually tuna salad has celery, I think the bell pepper gives a nice alternative to provide that crunch.

The eggs I think could be removed and it would still taste okay. I don’t care for hard boiled eggs, so I think that’s the main reason I would omit them!

I used brioche top cut hot dog buns. I think this was the right call!

The cheese melts beautifully and since it is cubed, you get little pockets of cheese throughout the sandwich. The bread gets just a little toasty.

Really a good sandwich. They would be a great lunch or a light dinner!
