Not Your Average Carrots

I think everyone has had steamed carrots as a side dish at one time or another. It can get a little boring.

These carrots add a little something more to take away the boring.

I steamed the carrots as I normally would. The end result was a carrot that was just a bit soft, but still firm enough to stay on your fork without falling apart.

The sauce is interesting, with a lot of flavor.

Admittedly, I would have added just a touch more salt, but the pepper level is nice.

The sugar blends into the other ingredients and melts away. You get a small amount of sweetness, but not too much.

The vinegar adds the little kick that make the sauce truly special.

Blended all together you get a carrot that has great flavor, and something different!

SWEET SOUR CARROTS

2 Tablespoons Butter

2 Tablespoons Flour

1/2 Teaspoon Salt

Dash Pepper

2 Tablespoons Sugar

2 Tablespoons Vinegar

1 Cup Hot Water

4 Cups Cooked Carrots

Brown butter, blend in flour and continue browning, stirring constantly. Add seasonings. Combine sugar, vinegar and water and add to the flour mixture gradually, cook slowly until thickened, stirring constantly. Pour over hot carrots.
