So these biscuits tasted great, but they didn’t rise at all.
They were very quick and easy to put together. The shortening blends in well.
I didn’t have any buttermilk and I couldn’t find any at the grocery store when I went either. Thankfully it is very easy to make buttermilk.
You take the measurement of 1 cup milk and subtract 1 tablespoon. Then you add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Stir it a little and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then you have buttermilk!
The biscuits came out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside – just like they should be.
They just didn’t rise. . .
