Milwaukee Spicy

As I have said before, my husband loves spicy food, so he was excited to try this recipe.

I used a pork shoulder with bones, so I cooked it a little longer than the recipe called for. The pork came out beautifully well cooked. Not at all dry, but moist and delicious.

I served it with rice pilaf and steamed broccoli which complimented it well.

Now for the spicy sauce – it whipped together very well. I did think of using it as a marinade while the pork cooked, but decided to follow the recipe.

We lived in Milwaukee for a few years, we have a joke that there is spicy and then there is Milwaukee spicy. Mid Western people seem to not enjoy spicy food that much. Even the Mexican restaurants seemed to have very bland food. So, yeah, this sauce was Milwaukee spicy, meaning not at all. Don’t get me wrong; it tasted good, but not even a hint of spicy!

Overall a good dish. I think I would add some cayenne to the sauce next time though.

PORK ROAST WITH SPICY SAUCE

Pork Shoulder

Salt and Pepper to Taste

2 Small Onions, Minced

1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce

1 Tablespoon Sugar

½ Teaspoon Paprika

½ Cup Vinegar

½ Cup Water

2 Tablespoons Ketchup

Have pork boned and rolled at the market. Season with salt and pepper, place fat side up on a rack in an open roaster. Roast in a 350 degree oven until the thermometer registers 185 degrees, allowing 40 minutes per pound. Combine all other ingredients and cook together for 5 minutes. Serve pork topped with sauce.
