Meh, It Was A Dinner. . .

Yes, this was a dinner recipe. We ate it, and it sustained us. Probably gave us some nutrients. But . . . Meh. . . .

There really wasn’t anything special about this dish.

The meat crust was flavorful. It had enough salt. The Worcestershire gave a nice flavor. But it was a bit unremarkable. It was a hamburger, or a slice of meatloaf that tasted like it wasn’t cooked with love.

The filling was fine Corn and tomatoes. But again, unremarkable.

I think I have made so many great recipes on this journey that when we run across something ho hum, it’s quit the disappointment.

This recipe is fine, it doesn’t taste bad But it isn’t really memorable either.

GOLD NUGGET MEAT PIE

1 Cup Soft Bread Crumbs

½ Cup Milk

1 Pound Round Steak, ground

1 Beaten Egg

2 Tablespoons Grated Onion

1 Teaspoon Salt

1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce

3 Tablespoons Catsup

¼ Cup Chopped Onion

2 Tablespoons Butter

12 Ounces Corn

1 Cup Tomatoes, Diced

1 Teaspoon Salt

½ Teaspoon Basil

Soften bread crumbs in milk. Add meat, egg, onion, and seasonings. Mix well. Line the bottom and sides of a 10 inch pie plate with meat mixture. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes. Meanwhile, cook onion in butter until golden. Add corn, tomatoes and seasonings, simmer for 10 minutes. Fill meat crust with hot corn mixture. Bake 5 minutes.
