Meatloaf with Raisins??

I can see where the raisins make this “California” I guess. California has a lot of grapes, grapes make raisins. . .



It’s just, they are weird. You get a lovely meatloaf, the flavor is very good. And then every few bites you get the sweetness of the raisin. It’s unexpected.



The raisins aren’t totally gross or anything. The first few bites are strange, but you get used to it. I’m not sure I ultimately liked it, but it wasn’t too horrible.



The cornflakes soften quite a bit during cooking. They are a soft texture to the loaf.



I forgot to add the cheese at the end. I didn’t miss it really. Although I think it would have given an extra depth of flavor.



Overall good-ish. It’s meatloaf, not brain surgery. . .



CALIFORNIA MEAT LOAF

1 Pound Hamburger

1 Cup Cornflakes

2 Eggs, Slightly Beaten

1 Teaspoon Salt

1/8 Teaspoon Pepper

½ Cup Milk

¼ Cup Ketchup

1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce

1 Cup Raisins

1/3 Cup Grated Cheddar Cheese


Blend together all ingredients. Shape into a loaf. Sprinkle 1/3 Cup grated Cheddar over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
