Light and Refreshing!

I will admit right at the start that I was having a complicated day when I tried this recipe. So I altered the recipe by adding some vodka.

The drink is very light and refreshing.

I would never have thought to mix milk and orange juice. It just doesn’t seem that these two ingredients would go well together. But it does work.

I used a microplane to zest the oranges. This gave a very small and manageable orange rind in the drink. I think if the pieces were any larger it would be unpleasant.

There is just enough creaminess from the milk and just enough acid from the orange juice.

Adding the vodka, while not called for, made this a great cocktail for a hot afternoon. It would have been a nice drink on a hot day without it too!

PALM SPRINGS COOLER

3 Cups Milk

3 Tablespoons Sugar

Crushed Iced

1 ½ Cups Orange Juice

2 Teaspoons Grated Orange Rind

Mint Leaves

Orange Slices

Place milk and sugar in a shaker or blender; mix well with ice. Add orange juice and rind. Mix vigorously. Pour into glasses and garnish with mint leaves and orange slices.
