If You Like Cod . . .

My husband is always asking me to make more fish for dinner. I try to make a fish dish every week, but admit that I sometimes stretch it. There’s just something about the lingering smell of cooked fish I hate!

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy eating fish. At a restaurant. With no clean up. And no smell. . .

Another part of my reluctance is that I will only cook fresh fish, which involves a trip to the market on the day I plan to cook it. I don’t always have time for this . .

After picking up my fresh cod, I prepared this recipe for dinner the other night. As far as the recipe goes, it is super simple.

The mushroom sauce is creamy and delicious.

The fish comes out almost looking restaurant quality, the sauce gives it a very nice presentation value.

It might be worth getting the Fabreeze out afterward!

COD STEAKS WITH MUSHROOM SAUCE

4 Fresh Cod Steaks

1 Small Onion, Chopped

¼ Pound Mushrooms, Sliced

6 Tablespoons Boiling Water

3 Tablespoons Butter

3 Tablespoons Flour

2 Cups Milk

Salt and Pepper to Taste

Paprika

Place steaks in an oiled baking dish. Cook onion and mushrooms for 3 minutes in boiling water. Add butter, stir in flour and mix to combine. Add milk, heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Season with salt and pepper and pour over cod. Sprinkle with paprika. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
