Holy Bran!

The recipe is easy to make. Not at all complicated.

But wow, that’s a lot of bran.

If you can imagine what you think a bran muffin would taste like – multiply it by ten.

Even though there isn’t a whole lot of molasses in the muffins, they taste strongly of molasses.

And yet they are dry. You get a very small bit of moisture from the raisins, but it’s very small.

Of the twelve muffins the recipe made, we only at two of them. And those were the two I used for the photos.

If you are looking for something healthy, tasteless, and unappealing, you could make these muffins. Or save yourself some time and just chew on some cardboard!!

RAISIN BRAN MUFFINS

3 Tablespoons Butter

¼ Cup Unsulfured Molasses

1 Egg

1 Cup Shredded Bran Cereal

¾ Cup Buttermilk

1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour

1 Teaspoon Baking Powder

½ Teaspoon Baking Soda

½ Teaspoon Salt

1/3 Cup Raisins

Cream butter and molasses together. Add egg and beat well. Add bran and buttermilk. Let stand 5 minutes or until most of the liquid is absorbed. Add remaining ingredients and mix only until moist. Fill greased muffin tins 2/3rdfull and bake in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes.
