Gravy With A Kick

I have always been a fan of red eye gravy. I am a huge supporter of all things coffee, so I guess that explains it.

Strangely I have never made red eye gravy before.

This recipe is super easy, and pretty quick. It is a great option for a breakfast, or an easy dinner.

I used ham steaks for the meat portion. It fries well, and is thick enough to give you a good bite.

The gravy mixes with the pan drippings from the ham which gives it some extra flavor.

The gravy was a little thin, but not too bad.

Overall, very good and tasty!

COUNTRY HAM WITH RED EYE GRAVY

6 Slices Ham, 1/4 Inch Thick

1/4 Cup Butter

1/4 Cup Packed Brown Sugar

1/2 Cup Strong Brewed Coffee

Sauté ham in butter until browned on both sides. Remove from pan and keep warm. Stir brown sugar into pan drippings. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar melts. Add coffee and simmer for 5 minutes. The mixture should be a rich red/brown color. Serve gravy over ham.
