Graham Cracker Alternative

Usually when making a no bake pie, it calls for a graham cracker crust. There is nothing wrong with that, but it can get tedious. Always the same thing.

Well, this is certainly not the same thing!

For the cereal I used corn flakes. They are crunchy and have a lovely color, so it seemed like a good fit.

The cinnamon adds just a bit of the spice flavor, but is not overwhelming.

The cereal does not really stick together when you are molding it in the pie plate. This worried me a bit, as I wasn’t sure if it would then stay together when trying to cut the pie.

Thankfully, as the crust chilled, the butter hardened. This ensured that the cereal flakes would stay together.

It stayed together nicely! The cereal did get a little soft the longer the pie sat, but was never actually soggy.

I used this with the Rhubarb Whipped Cream Pie. It was lovely!

CEREAL FLAKE CRUST

6 Cups Flaked or Puffed Cereal

1/2 Cup Melted Butter

1/4 Cup Sugar

1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon

Crush cereal well. Combine with remaining ingredients. Press into pie plate. Refrigerator until ready to use.
