Flavorful Steak

What a great marinade!

I used a red cooking wine. This can be found in any grocery store wherever the vinegar is. I just didn’t feel like opening a whole bottle.

The flavor of the marinade would change depending on what wine you use. Obviously cooking wine isn’t very strong. You could add more gusto my using a merlot or shiraz.

The seasonings go well together and provide a nice Italian flavor. The salad dressing gives you the oil and additional seasonings.

The steak was well infused with the marinade after the 5 hours of soaking.

I seared my steaks for about 5 minutes per side. We prefer medium rare steaks. This was perhaps about a minute too long per side for the thickness of the steaks. So you need to watch you cooking time according to your steak thickness.

The sauce made from the marinade is super flavorful and yummy.

Really a great dinner!

HERBED STEAK ITALIANO

1/2 Bottled Italian Dressing

1 Cup Red Wine

1 Cup Hot Water

1 Envelope Onion Soup Mix

1 1/2 Teaspoons Thyme

1 Teaspoon Marjoram

1/4 Teaspoon Pepper

1 Clove Garlic, Finely Chopped

3 Pounds Round Steak, 2” Thick

1 Cup Cold Water

1 Tablespoon Flour

Combine hot water and onion soup mix. Stir to combine. In and oblong baking dish combine Italian dressing, red wine, onion soup, thyme, marjoram, pepper, and garlic. Add steak, turning to coat completely. Cover and marinate at least 5 hours in the refrigerator. Turn steak occasionally. Bring steaks to room temperature before cooking. Grill or broil 10 to 15 minutes per side, or until desired doneness is reached. While steak is cooking, combine cold water with the flour. Add remaining marinade and heat, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens. Serve steak sliced with sauce poured over.
