It feels like cheating to purchase a boxed bread mix. But in all honestly, it isn’t.

The box contains premeasured yeast and a combination of flour and baking powder, probably a little sugar.

The only reason to use a box is to make it a little quicker and a little easier. You still have to go through the rise and kneading processes. You just don’t have to measure as much.

All that being said, the bread itself is tasty, has a great rise and is easy to work with.

The filling is the special party. The parmesan cheese mixed with the spices gives a great garlic flavor throughout the bread.

Rolling the dough with the spice mixture inside provides a beautiful swirl effect to the bread. The bread also is very easy to pull apart along the seems.

I got about 10 slices out of the recipe.
GARLIC BREAD
1 Package Hot Roll Mix
¾ Cup Warm Water
1 Egg
½ Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 Tablespoon Instant Minced Onion
2 ½ Teaspoons Garlic Salt
1 Teaspoon Italian Seasoning
1 Teaspoon Paprika
1 Tablespoon Melted Butter
Grease a loaf pan. In a large mixing bowl dissolve yeast from hot roll mix in the warm water. Stir in egg and roll mix. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 to 45 minutes. In a small bowl combine remaining ingredients, except butter. On a well floured surface, toss dough until no longer sticky. Roll out to a 12 x 7 inch rectangle. Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle all but 1 Tablespoon of filling over the dough. Starting with shorter side, roll up lightly. Seal with heels of hands after each roll. Place loaf in loaf pan; brush with remaining melted butter and sprinkle with remaining filling. Cover and let rise again for 30 to 45 minutes. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
