Delicious Roast!

Chuck roast isn’t an overly expensive cut of beef. So this is a good and economical dinner option.

The meat tenderizer helps break down the roast and gives it the tenderness you want. The lemon juice also helps with this.

Who knew they even sold sloppy Joe mix envelopes?!? I certainly didn’t.

You really get a good flavor from the mix.

The cooking method is interesting. There was little clean up afterward, which is great.

I did cook my roast in the oven. It was cold outside, so firing up the grill wasn’t something I wanted to do.

The roast smells amazing while cooking! You get the lovely beef smell, plus the seasoning mix and onions. It has a great aroma!

And it tastes great! The roast is tender. You don’t even need any gravy or sauce. The onions add a lovely flavor when served overtop.

FOILED CHUCK ROAST

4 Pound Chuck Roast

4 Teaspoons Meat Tenderizer

1 Envelope Sloppy Joe Mix

1 Onion, Cut into Thick Slices

½ Cup Water

Juice of 1 Lemon

Tenderize chuck roast with meat tenderizer. Place roast on two sheets of aluminum foil. Sprinkle with contents of sloppy Joe seasoning, then top with onion slices. Combine water and lemon juice; pour over meat. Wrap roast securely in foil. Cook on a grill or fire for 1 to 1 ½ hours. Alternately, cook in a 425 degree oven for 2 hours.
