Delicate Chocolate

The brownies have a very nice and delicate chocolate flavor. So if you are looking for a rich, fudge brownie, this isn’t it.

Melting the shortening and chocolate is the only thing you need to do in a saucepan. I used baking chocolate squares. Perhaps you could increase the chocolate flavor a bit by using powder. . .

The brownies are the perfect blend of crisp and soft.

I used walnuts for the nuts. They were a nice bit of crunch.

We really enjoyed them.

SAUCEPAN BROWNIES

1/3 Cup Shortening

2 Squares Unsweetened Chocolate

1 Cup Sugar

1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla

2 Eggs

3/4 Cup Flour

1/4 Teaspoon Salt

3/4 Cup Chopped Nuts

Melt shortening and chocolate in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Cool. Beat in sugar and vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir together flour, salt and nuts. Stir into chocolate mixture. Spread into a greased 8x8 inch baking pan. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 25 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
