Dainty Oatmeal Cookie

I never used to like oatmeal cookies. They almost always seem to have raisins in them and I never really liked raisins.

My tastes must have changed as I aged. I don’t hate raisins anymore. Of course, I don’t go out of my way to eat them, but I don’t find them gross. Especially the golden raisins.

That being said, I liked these cookies.

They were very delicate, not overly heavy. And there weren’t too many raisins. The ratio was just right.

The batter is quite soft, so you really do have to chill it at least an hour. If not, you will have a sticky mess trying to get them on the cookie sheets.

I also like that the recipe makes a small cookie. If you are a man you can pop the whole thing in your mouth. I found that with two bites you could finish the cookie.

The flavor was great, so you will definitely enjoy this recipe!

ALICE’S OATMEAL ROUNDS

1 Cup Sugar

1 Cup Shortening

2 Eggs

1 Teaspoon Vanilla

1 Cup Rolled Oats

1/2 Cup Raisins

1 3/4 Cups All Purpose Flour

1 Teaspoon Baking Soda

1/2 Teaspoon Salt

1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon

Mix sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla thoroughly. Blend remaining ingredients into the shortening mixture. Refrigerate overnight. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Place on baking sheets and flatten with the bottom of a greased glass dipped in sugar. Bake 10 minutes.
