A lot of the recipes I have found have shortcuts, or make aheads.
I have a make ahead recipe for corn bread, coffee cake, and now cookies.
The ingredients are easy to put together. It’s really just creaming three ingredients.
I stored the starter in a mason jar. I used most of the starter right away to make the Orange and Lemon Wafers.
I still have about half the jar. I am looking forward to making some more of the starter recipes.
The starter does save a little time, maybe a few minutes. It seems a bit unnecessary to me, but. . . .
COOKIE STARTER
2 1/4 Cups Sifted Flour
3/4 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Butter
Sift flour and salt. Cut in butter. Store in a clean jar with a tight fitting lid.
