Chocolate Dipped Sugar

If you are looking for something sweet this will fit the bill!

The bourbon flavor is strong, so make sure you don’t let your kids eat these! Since they are not cooked, the are very much alcoholic.

Dipping the balls in the unsweetened chocolate does help cut some of the sugar. You definitely need this – the balls are so sweet!

I think these would be a nice addition to a dinner party as long as you have other dessert options. I don’t think you could eat too many at a time!

KENTUCKY BOURBON BALLS

¼ Cup Butter

1 Pound Confectioners’ Sugar

2 Teaspoons Lemon Juice

½ Cup Ground Pecans

¼ Teaspoon Salt

¼ Cup Bourbon

4 Ounces Unsweetened Chocolate

1 Tablespoon Shortening

Beat butter until fluffy, gradually blend in the sugar a little bit at a time. Add lemon juice, pecans, salt, and bourbon. Mix thoroughly. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. In the top of a double broiler melt chocolate and shortening. Shape dough into 1 inch balls, dip in chocolate to coat. Place on waxed paper to cool.
