Pinwheels can go either way - they either look amazing, or they look a little suspect.

These looked a little suspect in my opinion.

To start, the filling is very brown and blah in appearance. I guess ground beef is always a little brown and blah. But maybe the addition of some pimiento or bell pepper would brighten it up a bit.

I will say that the horseradish was a nice addition. It gave the filling a small amount of spiciness.

The biscuit dough is also a little brown and boring. Okay, maybe more taupe, but still in the brown family.

The you add a lovely brown mushroom gravy to the top. The parsley does give it a little color, but not much.

So you see these brown discs with a brown gravy and honestly it does not look very appealing.

Fortunately, it tastes way better than it looks! The biscuits are soft on the inside with a lovely crunchy crust. The filling does have great flavor. And the mushroom sauce is quite nice.

So while it doesn’t look great, it does taste great!
