Apricot Ham

Writer: Amanda KennedyAmanda Kennedy

What an interesting way to make a ham!

My husband is not a fan of the traditional ham glazes. He doesn’t like his ham overly sweet. He prefers the saltiness of a Virginia ham.

So I was intrigued when I saw this recipe. I quite enjoy apricots. They aren’t too sweet. Maybe this would be the recipe my husband would enjoy. . .

The apricots provide a nice hardish crust to the ham. It isn’t overly sweet but just the right amount of flavor.

The cloves also give a nice bit of flavor to the ham.

I finally found a recipe for baked ham that both my husband and I liked! You should give it a try!

BAKED HAM

1 Smoked Ham

20 to 30 Whole Cloves

1 Can Apricots In Juice

Using a sharp knife, pierce ham every few inches, placing one clove into each piercing. Pour contents of can into a blender. Process apricots until smooth. Place ham in a baking dish on a rack. Pour pureed apricots over top. Cook in a 325 degree oven for 13 minutes per pound. Baste occasionally with apricot drippings. Slice and serve.
