Amazing Apple Treat

There is just something about a baked apple that makes me smile.



I used a combination of granny smith and red delicious apples for the dish. Mostly this was because the red delicious were on the cusp of turning. I needed to use them.




I know there are certain apples that are better for baking. They are crisper, like a granny smith, so they hold up better to the oven.




And you could tell which slices were granny smith and which were red delicious in the final product. The red delicious slices were a bit softer. They also fell apart easier.



Both apples were delicious. And the crisp was not overly sweet.



The topping was amazing. It had the perfect sweetness and texture.



Everyone really enjoyed this dish. My husband even went back for seconds. .



APPLE CRISP

6 Cups Sliced Cooking Apples

3/4 Cup Flour

3/4 Cup Brown Sugar

1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon

1/2 Cup Butter


Place sliced apples in a buttered baking dish. Mix flour, sugar, cinnamon and butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over fruit. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 45 minutes.
