A Wonderful Classic

This is another of the recipe’s I have been making for years. The recipe comes from the Better Crocker Cookie Book that was published in the 50’s. My mother isn’t much of a cook, but she can bake. This recipe book was a staple in our house. If you find a copy, there are endless cookie recipes for every Holliday.

As far as sugar cookies go, these are some of my favorites. The come out soft and stay that way for a while.

The recipe does not make that many cookies, probably only two dozen depending on the cutter you use.

I generally make these at Christmas, but they would be great any time of year. I use a basic cookie icing to decorate them. I would also suggest using a colored sugar for the topping. But honestly, they are great all on their own. Icing certainly isn’t needed!
